The owners at Hey! Hot Dog, a 1950's style barbecue and root beer diner, challenged us to create an identity that would give their business a fun, unique personality that would make it stand out from the other local fast food establishments. We created a symbol reminiscent of a 1950's soda jerk, to be the dominant image in the new identity. We added the simple slogan, "Great Food and Root Beer" to accompany the logo. We then proposed a 10-foot wide cut-out logo sign to be mounted on the diner's roof. We also designed the street side signage to complement the new identity. A color scheme of dark brown, orange, yellow and black was used throughout the identity. The Hey! Hot Dog identity was featured in The Big Book of New Design Ideas. |
